Carolyn Hirst

Carolyn has been a mediator since 2005 and has significant experience in mediating workplace, employment, public service, education and commercial disputes. As an experienced Board Member she is frequently asked to work with statutory and voluntary sector boards and she also has experience of mediating a wide range of team disputes. Her practice is informed by a theoretical and practical understanding about working with conflict and she also works as a coach, facilitator, independent researcher and mediation practice supervisor.

Carolyn is a former Deputy Scottish Public Services Ombudsman and Employment Tribunal Member. As a Lecturer in Ombudsman and Complaint Handling Practice at Queen Margaret University she undertook research and designed courses at undergraduate and post graduate level. Her current research with university colleagues relates to the impact of being complained about, access to justice and to therapeutic complaint resolution.
