Dates & Duration
9th June 2018, 9.30am - 4.30pm
This course is for anyone working in the caring professions or a pastoral role e.g. counsellors, medical professionals, psychotherapists, social workers, counselling skills users, ministers, celebrants, or teachers.
In the caring professions we need to practice self-care so that we are able to care for others. We also often want to teach the people we work with how to develop compassion for themselves and others.
This workshop, based on the work of Paul Gilbert, explains how our brains respond to threat and how developing compassion can help calm this threat system and make us more open to others and more content ourselves.
Learning outcomes include:
Rowan Consultancy has delivered training to organisations in the private, public and voluntary sectors for many years. We know which models work and how to help you acquire and practice knowledge and skills. We believe you don't learn skills by just being lectured or seeing slides, so we use experiential learning where you relate the theory to your own work situation. It's the best way to learn!
Rachel Weiss, Head of Training and founding partner of Rowan Consultancy, is the lead trainer for this course. Rachel is a coach, counsellor, trainer and associate lecturer. In a former life she was a secondary school teacher. She is also a mother of three.
So caring has been a large part of Rachel's professional and personal life and she is always re-learning the need for self-care and self-compassion. Rachel is a gifted communicator and presents workshops in an interactive way, allowing plenty of time for participants to interact and link the material presented to their own experiences.
"The workshop overall was excellent and Rachel was an engaging facilitator."
