Would you like to know more about using art materials with your counselling clients?

Do you want be more confident in working with your client's metaphors and images?

Do you have a bowl of stones or some pens in your counselling room, but are not sure how to use them safely?

Rowan Consultancy are excited to offer you the opportunity attend an experiential creative arts CPD day, led by a creative arts psychotherapist. This course is specifically for counsellors, psychotherapists and professionals using counselling skills, who would like to learn about using creative materials in their work with clients.

Who is the course for?
  • Practising counsellors who want to expand their skillset to include using the arts, images and metaphor in their client work
  • Professionals using counselling skills as part of their role, and who have gained at least a Certificate in Counselling Skills

A prerequisite for this course is that you have a 120 hours Certificate in Counselling Skills or a diploma in counselling or psychotherapy.

Overview

This experiential course will introduce you to working with three different art materials to explore your clients' thoughts and feelings. As part of the programme, you will learn the principles of good practice for working with the arts. This is a taster day for working with the arts in therapeutic practice.

The course will give you the opportunity to:

  • practised working with play-doh, collage and sand tray both in the counsellor and the client role
  • consider how to integrate using the arts safely in your counselling practice
  • be familiar with the principles of good practice for working with the arts
  • increase your self-awareness and personal and professional growth
The Trainer

Julia Brown has a Masters Degree in Integrative Arts Psychotherapy. She is an experienced, qualified supervisor and has been designing and delivering counselling training courses for over a decade. Julia is an examiner for the Masters programme at the Institute for Arts in Therapy and Education, London.

Julia is passionate about using creativity to help clients and students explore their inner world.
